Client & Family

Every family is unique and the impact a brain injury has affects both the injured person and their family.

In the weeks, months and years that follow injury, there are many adjustments to make and complex issues to deal with. Brain injury survivors and their families have reported that having an “expert companion” on this journey is invaluable in successfully navigating the challenges of life after brain injury. This is the role our Case Managers play; we recognise that you know your family best and what works for you and your loved ones. We take time to get to know you, and for you to get to know us, and we work with you and face the challenges together, and over the long term if required.

Some things, like changes in physical ability and role, will be more obvious, whilst others, such as changes in cognitive ability or personality may be more subtle and harder to get to understand and adjust to. By having a Case Manager who works with you and your family, at your pace, we aim to learn with you what works best for you and your family.

Exactly what your Case Manager does will vary according to what your needs are; the relationship with your Case Manager remains consistent and is always the most important factor. Our aim is that you have a Case Manager who you trust to support you and ensure that any needs arising from the brain injury are met. This may include providing you information about brain injury, coordinating rehabilitation, managing support workers or arranging medical reviews, or assistance with rehousing or other practical matters.

If you are pursuing a litigation claim as a result of an accident, your solicitor may commission a Case Manager to support you and coordinate all the services you need, but it’s important to understand that we do not work for your solicitor – we work for you. This means that, once your claim is settled and the solicitor is no longer involved, you can retain our services, and your Case Manager will continue to coordinate everything you need and support you with your progress over the long term.
